Jnaneshwar was a 13th Century Indian poet-saint, who at the age of around 18 years old wrote one of the most beautiful books ever written. Known as the Jnaneshwari or Jnaneshwar’s Gita it is one of the most insightful commentaries of this great spiritual classic. Unusual for his time, he wrote his commentary in Marathi so that the “common” people could gain this deep spiritual knowledge.
Having completed this gift to Humanity, Jnaneshwar walled himself in his own tomb and took Mahasamadhi, the conscious leaving of his body at the age of 21 years old. His Mahasamadhi tomb is located in Alandi, near Pune in India.
